Some musings about the state of the AI prompted games today

Saw Ollie Scheers prompt a Destruction Derby clone across the major LLMs, so I ran the same prompt through Bitmagic — then kept going: tweaked car handling, added night racing, dropped in objects, and shared a playable link. That's where the real fun starts.

Yesterday several people shared a post with me where Ollie Scheers showed results of prompting a Destruction Derby style game using the popular LLMs. The results were really impressive, so I did the same prompt in Bitmagic, just to see what happens!

The first prompt got me a simple racer, much like the videos in the original post. But to me, that's when the fun begins. I did bunch of more prompts to tweak the car handling, the way the cars look, added varying time of day to get some night-time racing as well, prompted some objects, and so on.

With Bitmagic, you get a full editor so you can prompt, play the game, tweak it either by prompts or by manually editing the scene, and then play some more. Once done, you can share a link to the game let your friends join the fun!

I'm often asked if I'm concerned that the LLMs are getting better at creating games without an engine. No, I'm not. Quite the opposite. The better the models become, the better we're off. Bitmagic is a company that directly benefits from better models. For now, the models are still far from ready. We are hoping for continued improvement and we are in fact working with some of the top teams to help them do just that. Improved LLMs will make the Bitmagic experience better.

We add value by providing a full 3D game engine, editing tools, asset pipeline, game distribution and monetization, desktop/mobile support and so much more. LLM teams are not game engine teams. They do a really great work at building better and better coding models, but the creativity still comes from the human using the tools. We live and breath games and we know a lot about AI too, so we're perfectly positioned to build the next gaming platform.

The video below shows the game I built today and a glimpse of the Bitmagic editor as well. To try it out yourself please apply for our Game Lab. The link is on the Bitmagic website.
