Hi, and welcome to janipenttinen.com! My game company Jollygood Games just announced
the release of its first game, Crystal Power. Here's a little description
of what the game is all about: Crystal Power is an exciting and challenging puzzle game where you fill energy tubes to power
your spaceship home. Energy tubes light and pulsate in brilliant colors when the right combinations of power crystals are placed.
Crystal Power was developed by good friend Patrick Smith, also a former Westwood
Studios employee, with his Rapid Game-Dev in Colorado and is being published and distributed
by Jollygood Games. I'm very excited to see such a cool and addictive game to come out
as our first release! ;)
September 23, 2003 Game industry veteran Jani Penttinen, together with AICO Productions, LLC. today announced the founding of a new game company Jollygood Games...

My service provider had a little glitch earlier today and all my domains were down for more than an hour.
Any email sent to me during that time appears to be gone for good - it didn't bounce back and I definitely
didn't receive any of it. So if you've sent me an email and never received a reply please contact me again,
chances are I never received it. Apologies for any inconvenience caused!
Keep reading this site next week! Things are finally the way they should be and I will announce a new project
I've been working on for the past couple months.

Greetings! I know I've promised some news regarding my game-related projects for some time now.
Many things are happening these days and I've been extremely busy setting things up. However, and
I really regret to say this, I will have to keep you guys waiting for some more time.
While waiting, check out what my good friend Steve Wetherill has been up to lately. His
new company Uztek Games just announced its first game on mobile
platforms! For those of you who don't know, Steve has been writing games for pretty much as long
as there have been computers to write games to, and Uztek's first release Nodes Of Yesod™ is a pixel-perfect
conversion of one of his early games on Spectrum twenty or so years ago! This stuff really makes
me feel young. :)

Hi everybody, just a quick update... I just finished a new major version of Little Billy's Album, which now has a cool email wizard. It lets you pick any number of photos, set the email size, and then it scales the photos so that the email is exactly as big as you want!
Actually, as I released the new version I set off to the airport almost immediatelly and spent the whole day flying - as a result I'm now in Finland, visiting my family and friends and having a nice well deserved two weeks vacation!
When I get back I have a big announcement to make regarding my future. I won't reveal anything just yet, except that it has to do with games! :)

I finished a contract project at Budcat Creations last week, so I am now completely self-employed. :) I'll still be working hard
on software projects but from now on it'll be full-time on my own, working on my own stuff. It's scary, but also really exciting!
LBA 1.0.3 is in beta now, expected to be released by the end of this week. There are a lot of additions and improvements,
including an all new Web Export Wizard which gives a lot of control over the web site creation, yet keeping it very easy
and simple.
There are also couple interesting possible game projects in the air now. I hope to be able to announce something in the next few
weeks!

Minor update to LBA released today, taking it to version 1.0.1.
List of updated features and bugfixes can be found at
www.littlebillysalbum.com/update. Now I have the major task ahead of me... writing the documentation and tutorials and other
interesting stuff like that! But it's important to have LBA as easy to use as possible so it really is worth it to spend some time
with the documentation. In the coming days I will start marketing it so if you find any bugs please let me know asap! :)
June 28, 2003 - Little Billy's Album is released!
Finally, version 1.0 is done. A free demo version is available for download and the full version is available for purchase for $34.95.
The first version is naturally kind of a public beta - I'll be fixing bugs and releasing new versions as needed. So please go ahead and
download LBA and find bugs or just want to give some feedback please feel free to email me. The demo version is fully functional and
doesn't have expiration date. The catch is that when you export images they are stamped with LBA logo...
June 20, 2003 - Hauskaa juhannusta kaikille!
Little Billy's Album is still keeping me busy. Thanks to the beta testers and their bug reports the program is pretty stable now
and I have spent the past couple days setting up a merchant account, working on a serial number system and prioritising the task list.
It's pretty clear I won't have all the features in the first release that I would like to, but I will be improving it after the release
then. The most important thing for me right now is drawing the line - at some point I need to stop adding stuff and rewriting the existing
features.
Today I also joined ASP (Association of Shareware Professionals) after hearing a lot of good things about them. I started with shareware
more than ten years ago so it is definitely interesting to be back, after so many years!

I've been extremely busy with Little Billy's Album during the past week and no - it's not done yet! There has been some progress though, and
as a proof of it I hereby present a sneak peak of the official Little Billy's Album web site! Take a look,
there's a couple of screen shots and some information. The program itself will be released soon. :)

Greetings! I've been too busy to update the website in the recent weeks, first due to attending e3 in Los Angeles and lately the finishing
stages of my new project titled Little Billy's Album. Simply put, it's an easy to use program for handling digital photos
that lets you do all the necessary basic operations such as scaling, scropping and rotating, and then export the photos as a web
page. I'm hoping to release version 1.0 in the next few days, and at that time I will also post more information and a web site
link for downloading the free demo version.
While waiting for the product announcement, check out the links section. I just added a link to Frank Klepacki's updated web page.
Frank is one of industry's best game music writers and this site offers plenty of samples of his songs over the years.

Enhancements to the JavaScript corner. Added a new effect with source code and a system with which the effecs can easily be browsed.
May 07, 2003
Added several book recommendations to the 3D section. The intent is that I would write reviews of the books at some point, but it might be a while before I have time for that.

The first major version of the website finally finished. Until today the site has served just as an online resume, but
from now on I'll be adding more and more stuff related to what I'm doing. In recent years my number one focus has been 3D programming
but lately I've started studying AI too. Hopefully I'll soon be able to add some AI stuff to the site as well. I've also been doing
some JavaScript programming just for fun so I've added a section dedicated to JavaScript tricks.
